What is Blood Alcohol Content (BAC)?
Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) β€” also called blood alcohol concentration β€” measures the percentage of alcohol in your bloodstream. A BAC of 0.08% means 0.08 grams of alcohol per 100 milliliters of blood. It's the standard measurement used by law enforcement and medical professionals to assess intoxication levels.
How is BAC calculated? (The Widmark Formula)

If you've had 4 standard drinks, wait at least 4–5 hours after your last drink before considering driving β€” and verify with a breathalyzer if possible. For heavy drinking sessions (6+ drinks), you may still be over the limit the next morning. "Sleeping it off" doesn't guarantee sobriety.
Why do men and women have different BAC results?
Women typically reach higher BAC levels than men after consuming the same amount of alcohol, even at the same body weight.
