Frequently Asked Questions

LRC (LyRiCs) is a standard file format for synchronized lyrics. It pairs each line of lyrics with a timestamp in [mm:ss.xx] format, allowing music players and karaoke applications to display lyrics in sync with audio playback. It's widely supported by media players like VLC, foobar2000, and mobile music apps.

1. Load audio (optional but recommended) — upload your MP3/WAV file.
2. Add lyrics — paste or type your lyrics line by line.
3. Play the audio and click the "TAG TIMESTAMP" button (or press S key) at the start of each lyric line. The tool automatically records the playback position and moves to the next line.
4. Review & adjust — fine-tune timestamps manually if needed.
5. Download the .LRC file — ready for your karaoke setup!

Each timestamp follows the pattern [mm:ss.xx] where mm = minutes, ss = seconds, and xx = hundredths of a second (centiseconds). For example, [01:23.45] represents 1 minute, 23 seconds, and 45 centiseconds. The LRC format supports multiple timestamps per line for repeated choruses, like [01:23.45][02:45.67]Chorus lyrics.

Yes! Each lyric row has a timestamp input field where you can manually type or edit the time in mm:ss.xx format. The LRC preview updates automatically. You can also use the Offset setting in the Export section to shift all timestamps forward or backward by a specified number of seconds — perfect for correcting sync drift.

LRC files support optional metadata tags at the top of the file:
[ti:Title] — Song title
[ar:Artist] — Artist name
[al:Album] — Album name
[by:Author] — LRC creator
[offset:ms] — Global offset in milliseconds
[length:duration] — Song duration
You can set the title and artist in the Export section of this tool.

LRC is widely supported. Popular players include: VLC Media Player, foobar2000, AIMP, MusicBee, MX Player (Android), Musicolet, Poweramp, and many karaoke-specific applications. Most players look for an .lrc file with the same name as the audio file in the same folder, and automatically display synced lyrics during playback.

The tool captures the HTML5 audio player's currentTime with centisecond precision. For most applications, this is sufficiently accurate. For the best results, tag each line right at the moment the vocals begin. You can always fine-tune timestamps manually or use the global offset adjustment to correct any consistent lag or lead.

Absolutely! Click the "Import" button in the Export section to load an existing .lrc file. The tool will parse all timestamps and lyric lines, populating the editor. You can then modify timestamps, add new lines, re-tag with audio, and export the updated version.
