Frequently Asked Questions

How do I set multiple timers at once?
Simply click any of the preset buttons—each creates an independent timer that runs simultaneously. You can also create custom timers using the input fields below the presets. All timers run in parallel, so you can track your eggs, pasta, and roast at the same time.
Can I customize the timer name?
Yes! When adding a custom timer, type any name in the "Timer name" field. For preset timers, the name is automatically assigned (e.g., "Soft-Boiled Egg"), but it helps you identify which dish each timer belongs to when multiple are running.
Will the timer work if I close my browser or switch tabs?
The timer runs in your browser and requires the tab to remain open. If you switch tabs, modern browsers may throttle the timer slightly, but it stays reasonably accurate. Closing the browser will reset all timers. For critical tasks, we recommend keeping this page open and visible.
How accurate is this kitchen timer?
The timer updates every second and maintains accuracy within ±1 second for typical kitchen use. It uses your device's system clock and JavaScript's setInterval. For longer durations (over 30 minutes), the accumulated drift is negligible for cooking purposes.
What happens when a timer reaches zero?
When a timer completes, its card turns red with a pulsing animation, the display shows "00:00" with a flashing effect, and an audible alarm plays (a series of beeps). You can stop the alarm by clicking the "Stop Alarm" button that appears, or by resetting/deleting the completed timer.
Is there a limit to how many timers I can run?
You can run up to 8 simultaneous timers. This limit keeps the interface clean and ensures smooth performance. If you need more, simply reset or delete completed timers to free up slots.
Can I pause and resume timers individually?
Absolutely! Each timer has its own play/pause button. You can also use the "Pause All" button at the top of the active timers list to pause everything at once—perfect for when you need to step away from the kitchen momentarily.
Does this work on mobile devices?
Yes! The Kitchen Timer is fully responsive and works great on smartphones and tablets. The large timer display is easy to read from across the counter, and buttons are sized for comfortable tapping. It works on iOS Safari, Android Chrome, and all modern mobile browsers.
