Frequently Asked Questions

How do I use this online drawing board?
Simply select a tool (pencil or eraser), pick a color from the presets or custom color picker, adjust the brush size using the slider, and start drawing on the canvas. Click and drag with your mouse or use your finger on touch-enabled devices. Use the undo button or Ctrl+Z to revert strokes, and click Save to download your artwork as a PNG image.
Can I save my drawing? What file format is supported?
Yes! Click the red "Save" button or press Ctrl+S to download your drawing. The file is saved in PNG format with a transparent background where no strokes were made (the canvas background appears white but the saved image has transparency for unmarked areas). The filename includes a timestamp for easy organization.
Does this drawing tool work on mobile devices and tablets?
Absolutely! The drawing board is fully responsive and supports touch input on smartphones and tablets. The toolbar adapts to smaller screens, and you can draw with your finger or a stylus. Touch events are optimized to prevent accidental page scrolling while drawing on the canvas.
How does the undo feature work? Is there a redo option?
The undo feature stores snapshots of your canvas after each stroke. You can undo up to 50 steps by clicking the undo button or pressing Ctrl+Z (Cmd+Z on Mac). Currently, there is no redo function—once you undo and then draw a new stroke, the previous forward history is cleared to save memory.
Can I change the canvas background or add layers?
This is a lightweight freehand sketching tool focused on simplicity. The canvas has a white background for drawing. Layer support and custom backgrounds are not available in this version, but you can achieve similar effects by drawing in stages and saving multiple versions. For advanced layered editing, consider using dedicated graphic design software.
What are the keyboard shortcuts available?
The following keyboard shortcuts are supported: P — switch to Pencil tool, E — switch to Eraser tool, Ctrl+Z (or Cmd+Z on Mac) — undo last stroke, Ctrl+S (or Cmd+S) — save drawing as PNG. These shortcuts help speed up your workflow while sketching.
Is my drawing data stored or uploaded anywhere?
No. All drawing happens locally in your browser using the HTML5 Canvas API. Your artwork is never uploaded to any server. The undo history is stored temporarily in your browser's memory and is cleared when you close or refresh the page. For permanent storage, make sure to save your drawing using the Save button.
