? represents a single unknown letter and * represents any number of unknown letters. The tool searches through a comprehensive word list and returns all matching results, making it invaluable for crossword puzzles, word games like Scrabble, and other word-based challenges.
?a?e tells the solver to find 4-letter words where the second letter is 'a' and the fourth letter is 'e'. The ? wildcards match any single letter in positions 1 and 3. This pattern returns words like bake, cake, fake, game, hate, lake, make, name, pace, race, safe, sale, same, take, tale, wage, wake, and many more. Simply type the pattern into the search box and the results appear instantly.
c?t matches "cat", "cot", "cut", etc.p*e matches "pe" (zero letters between), "pie", "pole", "plane", "please", and so on. The asterisk is flexible and can match sequences of any length, making it ideal when you're uncertain about the middle portion of a word.
