❓ Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is my image uploaded to any server?
No. All conversion happens entirely inside your browser using the HTML5 Canvas API. Your images never leave your device. This makes the tool completely private, secure, and GDPR-friendly.
  • Why does my PNG become much smaller when converted to JPEG?
JPEG uses lossy compression, which discards some visual data to achieve smaller file sizes. PNG is lossless and preserves every pixel perfectly. For photos, JPEG typically achieves 5–10x compression with minimal visible quality loss.
  • What happens to transparent areas when converting PNG to JPEG?
JPEG does not support transparency. This tool automatically fills transparent areas with a white background before conversion, ensuring your image looks clean. If you need transparency, choose PNG or WebP instead.
  • Can I convert multiple images at once?
Yes! You can upload multiple files at once by dragging them together or selecting multiple files in the file picker. Each file appears in the file list, and you can preview them individually. Use the "Download All" button to save all converted images.
  • What's the maximum image size I can convert?
The tool accepts files up to 50MB and images up to 4096×4096 pixels. Larger images are automatically scaled down to fit within this limit to prevent browser memory issues.
  • Does converting PNG to PNG do anything?
Converting PNG to PNG is effectively a no-op since PNG is lossless. The file will be re-encoded but should remain identical in quality. However, re-encoding may sometimes produce a slightly different file size due to compression level differences.
  • Which format should I choose for web use?
WebP is the modern recommendation — it offers both lossless and lossy compression, supports transparency, and produces files 25–35% smaller than PNG or JPEG. It's supported by all modern browsers. For maximum compatibility, JPEG (photos) or PNG (graphics with transparency) are safe fallbacks.
  • Why is my BMP file so large after conversion?
BMP is an uncompressed raster format — every pixel is stored individually without any compression. A 1920×1080 BMP image is always about 6MB regardless of content. Use BMP only when required by legacy software or specific workflows.
  • Does this tool support animated GIF or WebP?
Currently, the tool processes only the first frame of animated images (GIF, animated WebP). For full animation conversion, specialized tools are recommended. Static images are fully supported.
  • Can I use this tool offline?
Yes! Once the page loads, all conversion logic runs in your browser. You can even save the page for offline use, and image conversion will work without an internet connection.
