Frequently Asked Questions

This tool uses your browser's built-in Canvas API and FileReader API to process images entirely on your device. When you select or drag images, they are read locally into memory, resized using the HTML5 Canvas element, and then offered for download β€” all without ever sending a single byte to any server. This ensures maximum privacy and zero data leakage.

Input formats: JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, and SVG. For animated GIFs, only the first frame will be processed.
Output formats: JPEG (best for photos, small files), PNG (lossless, supports transparency), and WebP (modern format with superior compression). Choose JPEG or WebP for smaller file sizes; choose PNG when you need lossless quality or transparency.

Absolutely! This tool is built for batch processing. You can add as many images as you like β€” drag a whole folder, select multiple files, or add them one by one. All images share the same resize settings, and you can download them individually or as a single ZIP archive with one click. There's no hard limit on the number of images, though processing very large batches may take a moment on slower devices.

Long Edge: The longer side of your image (width or height) will be scaled to your target size, and the other side scales proportionally. Ideal for mixed-orientation batches.
Short Edge: The shorter side is scaled to the target size. Useful for ensuring thumbnails meet a minimum dimension.
By Width / By Height: Fixes one dimension while the other adjusts automatically (when aspect ratio is locked).
Percentage: Simple percentage-based scaling (e.g., 50% = half the original dimensions).
Exact: Forces both width and height to specific values, potentially stretching the image if aspect ratio is unlocked.

We recommend keeping individual images under 40MB for smooth performance. Since processing happens in your browser's memory, very large images (50MP+) may cause slowdowns on devices with limited RAM. For typical photos from smartphones and DSLRs (5–25MP), the tool works flawlessly. If you encounter issues with extremely large images, try resizing them in smaller batches.

85–90%: Great balance for web photos β€” minimal visible quality loss with significant file size reduction.
70–80%: Good for email attachments and social media where smaller files are preferred.
95–100%: Near-lossless quality, suitable for archival or print, though file sizes remain larger.
The quality slider applies to JPEG and WebP outputs. PNG is always lossless and ignores the quality setting. For the best balance, we recommend the default 85%.

No. Your images never leave your device. The entire process β€” reading, resizing, and preparing downloads β€” happens locally in your browser's memory. Once you close the tab or navigate away, all image data is gone. There is no server storage, no cloud processing, and no third-party involvement. This makes the tool ideal for sensitive photos, business documents, and private images.
