To avoid rounding errors, the tool works with cents (integers). Each share is calculated as floor( (total_cents × weight) / total_weight ). Any remaining pennies (always fewer than the number of staff) are assigned one by one to the staff with the highest weights, guaranteeing the sum exactly matches the total tip amount.

While this tool uses proportional weights, you can simulate percentages by using custom weights that add up to 100. For example, allocate 45, 30, 25 as weights for three staff members to achieve a 45% / 30% / 25% split. The math works identically.
